Fuzzy Wuzzy Was a Flower

I tried to take a picture of some new blooms on my porch…

…and the result was this blurry mess. It’s so muggy and humid and swampy here that my camera fogged up as soon as I stepped outside and I couldn’t get a clear shot. I had to quickly swipe the lens and shoot the picture just to get this–

and this–

neither of which are very good. But, I think you get the general point I am trying to convey. I got me some flowers!!! Adam gave me this beautiful plant–a tropical bonsai– in mid-April and it had these gorgeous magenta flowers on it that were as delicate as tissue paper. Unfortunately, some particularly brawny gusts of wind blew almost all of my dainty blossoms away. I was afraid it was a goner. Never mind the fact that I wasn’t getting any new growth otherwise, I assumed the plant was not going to make it much longer. Thankfully, Mr Adam is a true gem and didn’t mind that for all I knew I had killed such poor flora.

Alas! The other night whilst consuming a dinner that was no doubt beyond delicious, I was caught with my fork en route to my mouth as I looked through the window and saw a hint of pink. Blooms! Further investigation proved that they were in fact tiny buds ready to spring forth and infuse our porch with new vigor!

Why am I being so dramatic about all this? Because I, friends, am a terribly gardener. I have no green thumb of which to speak and do my best just to keep herbs alive. So this is a tremendous victory for both foliage and I. Another foggy glance shows that these beauties are real–

Apologies for the excruciatingly bad photography. Hopefully this pesky weather clears up. Maybe some time this fall…
